Methodology
The Carbon Diagnostic applies the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (WRI/WBCSD) as its foundational methodology. Emission factors are sourced from the UK Government DESNZ 2024/25 GHG Conversion Factors for UK operations, with IEA and national grid factors applied for international assessments. Scope 3 screening uses the GHG Protocol Scope 3 Calculation Guidance spend-based approach. How are Scope 3 emissions calculated?
Scope 3 emissions are calculated using the GHG Protocol screening methodology. Activity-based data (km, tonnes) uses specific emission factors. For spend-based estimates, the Pro tier provides five DEFRA sector tiers ranging from 0.10 kgCO2e/£ (Services/IT) to 0.60 kgCO2e/£ (Agriculture/Food). The free tier uses a single blended screening factor.
Is my data stored or shared?
All calculations run entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server during the diagnostic process. When you download a PDF, we ask for your name and email to deliver the report. This data is processed under UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy. Your emission data is never stored on our servers.
